The University of Lomza has once again hosted the National Scientific Conference “Sport, Health, and the Education of Children and Youth”, bringing together researchers, doctoral candidates, and students from academic centres across Poland. The event focused on contemporary challenges related to physical activity, health, and the holistic development of young people.
The conference was organised by the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Lomza, through its Department of Physical Education, with the support of regional partners, including the Lomza Teacher Training Centre, the City of Lomza, and the University Sports Association AZS AŁ. Designed as an interdisciplinary forum, the meeting enabled the exchange of research findings, professional experience, and perspectives from biological, medical, pedagogical, and social sciences.
The event was officially opened by PhD Ewa Polkowska, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and PhD Tomasz Waldziński, Head of the Department of Physical Education. The plenary session featured a keynote lecture by Prof. Jędrzej Antosiewicz from the Medical University of Gdańsk, who addressed the impact of physical activity and nutrition on neurobiological processes in young people.
Subsequent thematic sessions covered a wide range of topics, including hormonal and inflammatory responses to physical effort, mindfulness techniques in education and sport, nutritional sources of bioactive compounds, neuromuscular coordination and physical fitness in young athletes, the safety of supplementation, and legal aspects of working with children and youth in educational settings. Participants also discussed emerging research on occlusion training methods in professional sport.
An important part of the programme was dedicated to student research, with representatives of student scientific associations presenting studies on physical activity levels among university students, the relationship between motor skills and competitive ranking in tennis, first aid education for children, and the role of conscious nutrition in supporting physical activity.
The conference concluded with a joint discussion emphasising the need for continued research into the health and physical development of younger generations, as well as the importance of sustained academic cooperation between institutions.
By hosting nationwide scientific events of this scope, the University of Lomza reaffirms its position as an active centre for interdisciplinary research, academic dialogue, and collaboration in the fields of health, sport, and education.
Oxford-Style Debate on the European Convention on Human Rights at the University of Lomza
On 10 December 2025, the University of Lomza hosted an Oxford-style debate devoted to one of the most fundamental questions of contemporary constitutional and international law: Is the European Convention on Human Rights a guarantor of individual freedom or a limitation on state sovereignty?
The debate was jointly organised by the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Lomza and the DOMENA PRAWA Legal Education Forum, operating in cooperation with the District Court in Lomza. The event coincided with the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the European Convention on Human Rights, adding symbolic significance to the discussion.
The debate brought together secondary school students from Lomza, who actively engaged in a structured exchange of arguments presenting opposing perspectives on the role of the Convention in modern democratic states. Arguments highlighting the Convention as a cornerstone of civil liberties and legal protection were confronted with positions emphasising concerns related to national sovereignty and the limits of supranational legal frameworks.
Moderated in line with the Oxford debate format, the discussion encouraged critical thinking, legal reasoning, and respectful dialogue—core values promoted by the University in its educational outreach. The event concluded with a reflection on the importance of continued debate on human rights and constitutional balance, as well as an invitation to participate in future initiatives organised by the Faculty of Law and Administration.
By hosting events of this kind, the University of Lomza reaffirms its commitment to civic education, legal awareness, and meaningful engagement with young people, creating space for dialogue on issues that shape contemporary Europe and the rule of law.

The continuous presence of visitors at the exhibition stands created an atmosphere of curiosity, dialogue, and creative discovery, complementing the programme of lectures and presentations taking place across the campus.
A key moment of the Festival was the presentation “Discover Your Future at the University of Lomza”, delivered by PhD Marta Żebrowska-Gamdzyk, who introduced participants to the University’s broad educational offer and career pathways. The programme also included expert talks on topics such as the use of artificial intelligence in work and education, the role of lighting in professional environments, and emerging technologies shaping contemporary learning.
Particular interest was drawn by virtual reality demonstrations, highlighting solutions that may soon become an integral part of education and professional practice. The event was further enriched by a practical showcase prepared by officers from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Lomza, as well as a session titled “Doing Business in Lomza”, during which organisers presented case studies of successful local initiatives.
The Festival also featured interactive quizzes with prizes, encouraging active participation and adding an element of friendly competition and enjoyment. Visit of Diplomat Dr Bogdan Wrzochalski to the University of Lomza
On 5 November 2025, the University of Lomza welcomed an esteemed guest—experienced diplomat and respected legal philosopher Bogdan Wrzochalski—who visited the University at the invitation of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Lomza.
Dr Wrzochalski delivered a lecture addressed to secondary school students from II Secondary School in Lomza and the Catholic Secondary School in Lomza, focusing on the professional opportunities that legal education can open within diplomatic service and international institutions. The lecture combined academic reflection with practical insight, as the speaker drew extensively on his professional experience gained during diplomatic postings in Berlin, Bratislava, and Vienna, as well as his work within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and academic environments.
Particular attention was given to Dr Wrzochalski’s reflections on his involvement in the diplomatic and consular training system, offering students a rare, first-hand perspective on the requirements, challenges, and responsibilities associated with a career in diplomacy. His narrative was marked by a strong emphasis on perseverance, long-term goal setting, and confidence—values that resonated strongly with the young audience.
The visit also provided an opportunity to exchange views on the development potential and strategic directions of the University of Lomza. Dr Wrzochalski expressed his appreciation for the University’s academic profile and engagement with secondary education, and he announced his intention to continue cooperation through future visits.
By hosting distinguished practitioners alongside academic experts, the University of Lomza strengthens the link between theory and practice, offering students early exposure to real-world professional paths and reinforcing its role as an institution open to dialogue, inspiration, and international perspectives.
Strengthening Long-Term Regional Cooperation with Secondary Schools
The University of Lomza continues to expand its cooperation with secondary schools from the region through a series of long-term partnership agreements. These initiatives are conceived as comprehensive and interdisciplinary, involving all faculties of the University and extending well beyond short-term or single-purpose activities.
The signed agreements establish a framework for sustained cooperation focused on enhancing the overall quality and attractiveness of education, supporting the development of students’ professional competences, and addressing their broader psychosocial needs. By combining academic expertise with practical educational initiatives, the University aims to create a space where pupils can gradually build awareness of their strengths, interests, and future educational pathways.
Through regular interaction with the academic environment, secondary-school students gain the opportunity to engage with university staff, participate in educational initiatives aligned with their interests, and experience academic life in a way that supports informed decision-making about their future studies. The cooperation model is intentionally flexible, allowing joint activities to evolve over time and respond to the changing needs of both partner schools and the University community.
As part of this long-term strategy, the University of Lomza has signed cooperation agreements with the following secondary schools:
- II Secondary School named after Maria Konopnicka in Lomza
- III Secondary School named after the European Union in Ostrołęka
- Catholic Secondary School named after Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński in Lomza
- School Complex No. 1 named after General Stefan Rowecki in Zambrów
- Municipal School Complex in Nowogród
By strengthening cooperation with regional secondary schools, the University of Lomza reinforces its role as a socially engaged academic institution that invests in young people and supports their educational development from an early stage. These partnerships are built on continuity, mutual trust, and a shared commitment to preparing future generations for the academic and professional challenges ahead.
