A mobility to Malta under the Erasmus+ program turned out to be much more than just an international mobility for our student. It was an experience of both educational and personal nature, full of new challenges, inspiring encounters, and moments that remain in memory for a long time.
The stay on the island became an opportunity to discover an incredibly diverse place. Malta, despite its small size, offers a richness of landscapes and history – from picturesque fishing villages, through impressive cliffs, to monuments dating back several thousand years. Among the places visited were Mdina, the former capital of the country, known as the “Silent City,” as well as the island of Gozo with its scenic views of Ramla Bay. The student also had the opportunity to see the Tarxien Temples, Marsaxlokk, and the famous Blue Grotto, which are among the most important landmarks on the map of Malta.
Alongside exploring the country, the student completed an internship at the Malta Leadership Institute, where he gained professional experience in an international environment. He highlights the friendly working atmosphere, the openness of the team, and the opportunity to actively participate in the life of the institution, which significantly contributed to his professional and personal development. An equally important aspect of the stay was accommodation with a local family, which allowed for an even deeper understanding of the culture and everyday life of Malta’s residents. The hosts’ hospitality and daily contact with them made the student quickly feel part of the local community. He summarizes his experience as follows:
“Going to Malta under the Erasmus program was one of the most beautiful and life-changing experiences in my life. It was not just a trip, but a true lesson in life – I learned independence, openness, and courage. I met wonderful people from all over the world, gained new skills, and understood how much stepping outside of my comfort zone can give. Malta will always remain in my heart as a symbol of change and a new beginning.”
The stay in Malta was also a time of intensive personal development. The participant not only expanded his competences but also increased his self-confidence and openness to new experiences. The international relationships he built, as well as the experience he gained, constitute valuable capital for the future. This experience shows how many opportunities participation in the Erasmus+ program offers. It is not only a chance to gain knowledge and discover new places, but above all an investment in personal development and building international relationships.
