The University of Lomza has once again hosted the National Scientific Conference “Sport, Health, and the Education of Children and Youth”, bringing together researchers, doctoral candidates, and students from academic centres across Poland. The event focused on contemporary challenges related to physical activity, health, and the holistic development of young people.

The conference was organised by the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Lomza, through its Department of Physical Education, with the support of regional partners, including the Lomza Teacher Training Centre, the City of Lomza, and the University Sports Association AZS AŁ. Designed as an interdisciplinary forum, the meeting enabled the exchange of research findings, professional experience, and perspectives from biological, medical, pedagogical, and social sciences.

The event was officially opened by PhD Ewa Polkowska, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and PhD Tomasz Waldziński, Head of the Department of Physical Education. The plenary session featured a keynote lecture by Prof. Jędrzej Antosiewicz from the Medical University of Gdańsk, who addressed the impact of physical activity and nutrition on neurobiological processes in young people.

Subsequent thematic sessions covered a wide range of topics, including hormonal and inflammatory responses to physical effort, mindfulness techniques in education and sport, nutritional sources of bioactive compounds, neuromuscular coordination and physical fitness in young athletes, the safety of supplementation, and legal aspects of working with children and youth in educational settings. Participants also discussed emerging research on occlusion training methods in professional sport.

An important part of the programme was dedicated to student research, with representatives of student scientific associations presenting studies on physical activity levels among university students, the relationship between motor skills and competitive ranking in tennis, first aid education for children, and the role of conscious nutrition in supporting physical activity.

The conference concluded with a joint discussion emphasising the need for continued research into the health and physical development of younger generations, as well as the importance of sustained academic cooperation between institutions.

By hosting nationwide scientific events of this scope, the University of Lomza reaffirms its position as an active centre for interdisciplinary research, academic dialogue, and collaboration in the fields of health, sport, and education.
