Another mobility under the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) has come to an end. From March 3–7, 2025, UCLL University of Applied Sciences hosted over 100 students and faculty members during an international meeting titled "European Law & Institutions."
Our students from the Faculty of Law and Administration, in a group of four, represented University of Lomza a on the international stage. Throughout the week, they delved deeply into the functioning of the European Parliament. On the very first day, they attended a lecture by Prof. Nico Nijsten from UCLL University of Applied Sciences, who introduced them to the structure of the European Parliament and the daily work of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs).
The President of the European Court of Justice, Prof. Koen Lenaerts, began one of the thematic sessions with the words: "The idea of the European Union is to do together what can only be done together," clearly defining how the European community should look. Then, at the Benelux General Secretariat, Prof. Michel-Etienne Tilemans addressed the idea of cooperation between countries and regions, starting his lecture with the question: "Can you imagine a symphony in which many instruments do not play?"
These inspiring speeches formed the foundation for further in-depth discussions on the functioning of European institutions and the role of law in shaping EU policies. The students also had the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops that allowed them to practically apply the knowledge they had gained and better understand the challenges facing today’s EU institutions.
The rich program, distinguished speakers, and engaged participants made this year’s edition of BIP "European Law & Institutions" particularly inspiring. Our Law students stood out for their openness and active participation during sessions, often taking on leadership roles in workshop groups. The safety and effectiveness of the students' work were overseen by Prof. Dr. Maciej Michał Jońca.
