From November 18 to 22, 2024, the University of Lomza hosted a delegation from Vasil Levski National Military University in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. Representatives from the Planning, Programming, and Budgeting Department, including Plamen Kamenov, Atanas Irinchev, and Veneta Ivanova, visited our institution as part of Erasmus+ staff training mobility. The primary goal of the visit was to exchange experiences, explore the educational infrastructure, and strengthen international cooperation.
During a meeting with staff from the International Relations Department, the history of the University of Lomza, its organizational structure, study programs, and details of the Erasmus+ Program were presented. Both sides discussed the practical nature of education as a shared characteristic of both institutions and highlighted efforts to improve employability through intensive internship programs. It is worth noting that the University of Lomza has been hosting students from Vasil Levski National Military University for years. These students enhance their skills in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Automation, and Robotics, often working on advanced projects in collaboration with internship supervisors from the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology.
A key part of the visit was a tour of the modern laboratories and teaching facilities. Mgr inż. Arkadiusz Nieciecki from the Department of Automation and Robotics showcased:
- The Mechatronics Lab, where students refine their skills in designing, building, and operating mobile robots and other robotic systems.
- The Additive Technologies and Thermoprinting Lab, where students from all faculty programs prototype their designs for advertising prints and 3D printing.
- Labs for Computer Graphics, IoT (Internet of Things), and Industrial Automation, enabling students to develop advanced technological skills and work on interdisciplinary projects.
- The Physics Lab, which offers students the opportunity to participate in fundamental scientific experiments such as interference, the Doppler effect, and the Franck-Hertz experiment.
The guests also had the opportunity to learn in detail about study programs, research projects, and student initiatives at the faculty. Particular interest was drawn to the RoboExe programming competitions, including "Code Master" (focused on programming and algorithms) and "PLC Expert" (centered on PLC controller programming), which have become flagship events for the faculty.
During discussions with Dr. inż. Andrzej Sawicki, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology, similarities between the educational programs of both institutions were explored, particularly in the field of logistics. The delegation praised the newly launched Logistics program at the University of Lomza and shared their experiences with its implementation at Vasil Levski National Military University, where such programs are available to both civilian and military students.
The visit was an excellent opportunity for the exchange of experiences and best practices. The delegation appreciated the high standard of infrastructure at the University of Lomza and its practical approach to education. The meeting served as inspiration for further collaboration within the Erasmus+ Program and the implementation of joint educational projects aimed at improving the quality of education and promoting internationalization.
