University of Lomza is a young and modern institution recognizable in the country and in the region as the center of education of specialists – practitioners. In significant way, our institution contributes to the economic and intellectual development of the region, raises the level of education of its citizens and growth in number of graduates. University of Lomza attracts students from North – Eastern Poland and abroad by its wide educational opportunities. We provide different levels and forms of education such as: bachelor and master degree programmes, postgraduate programmes, courses, seminars and conferences for both intramural and extramural studies. We reinforce internationalization in accordance with the national educational policy. The key factor of our international policy is the development of cooperation with European and cross-border countries: Belarus, Ukraine and Russia, Asian countries: China, India and Taiwan and American countries: United States and Canada.
University of Lomza puts the enhancement of internationalization indexes as its strategic goal, which will be carried out by the following activities:
- Extension of the didactic offer in the scope of inter-institutional cooperation agreements.
- Increasing the number of mobile students and academic staff by promotion of teaching and training mobility and the recognition of such activities in professional individual career.
- Participation in the international projects, intensive courses, summer University of Lomzas and study visits to create joint study programmes and degrees.
- Development of new formsof cooperation by cross-border exchange and mobility.
- Assurance of efficient acknowledgement of ECTS, diploma supplement and other achievements, within the European Qualifications Framework.
- Provision of study programmes available in foreign languages, mainly in technical studies and humanities.
- Putting the e-learning and distance learning education into practice.
- Increasing the disabled and underrepresented mobility.
University of Lomza will continue to be a lifelong learning organization and the center of know-how, responding to the needs of the region and the country aware of its special role in cross-border development and internationalization. One of the significant objectives of our University of Lomza is to develop and sustain close cooperation with local businesses, which has already resulted in the establishment of Council of Practitioners.
Academic mobility activities
Every participating academic unit has an Erasmus Coordinator to support incoming and outgoing students and staff with their exchange activities. The Institutional Erasmus Coordinator has supervision of the entire programme. The units may undertake monitoring visits to partner institutions to assess the exchange activity. University of Lomza has produced its own Study Guide for exchange students. We are fully committed to a comprehensive Equal Opportunities Policy in order to create working and learning environment.
Study programmes are described on the basis of learning outcomes and are graded with the ECTS. All programmes are validated through University of Lomza quality assurance process.
Incoming students receive details about specific course options and credit values from the IRO and Departmental Coordinators. Free English language classes are available at the University Center Of Foreign Languages.
Opportunities for staff mobility are promoted regularly within each unit.
Traineeship Mobility
Student placement is an integral part of study programmes. Placement arrangements, evaluation and monitoring will be implemented by our University of Lomza and foreign partners. The recruitment procedure is based on the following criteria:
- students’ language competence,
- academic achievements,
- involvement in student associations and University of Lomza community life.
The coordinators assist students in choosing appropriate host organization, duration of stay and will assure that the work-programme is adequate to the study programme. Logistic support: travel arrangements, visa, accommodation, work permits, insurance is provided by IRO.
Diploma Suplement and Formal Recognition
Full recognition is given to the students for satisfactory completed activities and submitted report. Students will be awarded by Euro-pass Mobility certificate as an official confirmation of achieved qualifications and skills. The Erasmus placement activity is shown in the Diploma Supplement.
University of Lomza will popularize ECHE, EPS and the programme activities by using promotional activities (Open Days, information packages, University of Lomza magazine). Very important part of the visibility of ECHE, EPS and the Program activities will be University of Lomza website.
The programme activities will be financially supported and University of Lomza buildings adapted for the disabled. University of Lomza will organize seminars and conferences to raise students’ awareness of cultural diversity to combat xenophobia and racism.
Inclusion and Diversity Strategy
The University of Lomza implements the Erasmus+ Inclusion and Diversity Strategy with the aim of ensuring equal and fair access to mobility opportunities for all participants.
Qualitative objectives
- to guarantee openness and equal treatment in the recruitment process,
- to provide additional support for students and staff with disabilities and those in difficult economic or social situations,
- to promote diversity, tolerance, and inclusiveness within the academic community,
- to enhance awareness among staff and students through training, meetings, and information activities.
Quantitative objectives
- to maintain the annual participation of people with fewer opportunities in mobility projects at a minimum level of 10% of all participants,
- to organize at least 2 events per year (e.g. Erasmus Open Day, information sessions) promoting accessibility and inclusiveness,
- to systematically monitor participant satisfaction and report results within Erasmus+ reports,
- to increase the number of participants in short-term mobilities and Blended Intensive Programmes, which are more accessible to people with fewer opportunities.
Actions
The strategy is published on the University’s website and promoted among outgoing and incoming students and staff through the International Relations Office, social media channels, and open events. The University cooperates with partner institutions to exchange best practices and jointly enhance mobility accessibility.
