Our Region
Łomża is a lovely town with over sixty thousand inhabitants, located in the North Mazovia region. Thanks to its environmental and landscape values, it is a part of the Green Lungs of Poland. The area is also covered by the EU Natura 2000 programme, which means that it is of significant value for environmental values of Europe. Łomża's location makes it an unforgettable place for its visitors. It overwhelms with a wealth of flora and fauna. The Landscape Park of the River Narew Valley encompasses as many as 16 kilometers of wild nature almost untouched by humans.
Łomża is not only nature but also interesting history, with periods of glory intertwined with failures. Sightseeing lovers can visit the over five hundred years old Cathedral and one of the oldest cemeteries in Poland, as well as the Kurpie Open Air Museum, the second oldest museum of this type in Poland. The lovers of history and militaria will be attracted by the forts constructed by the Russians during their reign in Poland and gladly use the local sports shooting range. The Museum of Nature in Drozdowo and the Landscape Park of the River Narew Valley are a great attraction for those seeking a retreat from daily chores. The town is also proud of its art galleries, museums and art studios. Plenty of entertaining and cultural events take place here. Nightlife lovers will be certainly satisfied with numerous bars, discos and tiny restaurants with their special atmosphere.
Thanks to our University, students' life has been flourishing in Łomża for sixteen years.
